dmincubator is pleased to present Attuned Listener, an exhibition of large-scale paintings by So Lee and fabric sculptures and installations by Kathie Halfin, curated by Daniela Mercuri. Both artists work with patience, close observation, and contemplation, a practice that amounts to a form of deep listening.

South Korean artist So Lee paints in oil, in a figurative style, about the experience of childhood before language takes hold. At that stage the world has not yet been sorted into words and categories, so it can be taken in fully, with all its strangeness and symbolic power. Language helps us make sense of things, but it also lets us label and move past them. Lee's paintings return to that earlier state of awe and wonder, listening back to a time when every moment was felt rather than named.

Kathie Halfin listens to the natural world. Her fabric sculptures and wall installations take the forms of plants and corals, their parts weaving together in shifting colors and textures. Each work suggests a living community, where every element works with the others in collaboration rather than hierarchy. Halfin's pieces reflect a way of being that lies outside human logic, built instead on empathy and a shared connection among all living things.

Together, the two artists invite viewers to slow down and attend to what lies beneath words: the world as a child first meets it, and life as it quietly sustains itself.
